We’re looking for a high-potential Financial Accountant to join Cox Automotive Australia and play a key role in supporting financial reporting, technical accounting, compliance and treasury across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to transition from audit (or similar technical environment) into a commercial role, or for a strong Financial Accountant wanting to deepen their technical capability and business impact in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
About the role
Reporting to the Corporate Reporting & Tax Manager, you’ll support month-end close and play a key role in financial reporting, technical accounting, reconciliations and treasury operations across Cox Automotive Australia.
You’ll work closely with the finance team and key stakeholders, contributing to robust and accurate reporting, compliance obligations and continuous improvement of processes and controls.
This role is well suited to someone who is technically strong, systems-savvy , analytically minded, proactive and curious and keen to grow into a broader finance role.
What you’ll be doing
Financial reporting, technical accounting & compliance
· Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting
· Assist with consolidated reporting to global parent entities
· Apply and interpret AASB/IFRS accounting standards, including for new or complex transactions
· Deliver accurate and timely month-end and year-end close
· Complete general ledger reconciliations, including complex accounts
· Investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances and provide clear, actionable insights
· Prepare P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow supporting schedules
· Support BAS, FBT, GST and income tax compliance activities
· Assist with external audit processes and audit pack preparation
· Assist in preparing technical accounting or position papers where required
· Leverage data, analytics and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI or similar) to enhance financial insights, reporting accuracy and process efficiency.
· Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to explain financial results, influence outcomes and drive accountability across the business.
· Contribute to process improvement and reporting efficiencies
Treasury, banking & cash management
· Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity positions
· Perform and review bank reconciliations across multiple entities
· Execute banking transactions (payments, transfers, receipts)
· Support treasury reporting, including cash flow and funding summaries
· Assist with banking administration, documentation and system optimisation (including SAP)
Governance & controls
· Maintain strong financial controls and risk management practices
· Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements
· Identify and implement opportunities to improve, standardise and automate processes
· Support system enhancements across SAP and reporting tools
· Contribute to finance transformation initiatives and reporting improvements
· Safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of financial data
About you

· Solid foundation in financial reporting, reconciliations and audit support
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
· Ability to apply judgement and work through complex issues
· Proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities
· Confident communicator who can engage with stakeholders
· Systems-savvy with experience in SAP or similar ERP
Highly regarded
· Background in an audit firm (Big 4 or mid-tier) or a technically focused environment
· Good understanding of AASB/IFRS accounting standards
· Exposure to multi-entity or complex reporting environments
· Understanding of treasury operations and banking processes
· Progress towards or completion of CA / CPA

Work environment
· Based in Melbourne
· Hybrid model:
o Initially: 2–3 days per week in Altona
o Post office move: 3 days per week in the CBD with occasional travel to other sites as required
